Vanderbilt dogs have been sold to discerning pet owners and breeders worldwide however they are available to APPROVED homes only, so please complete our questionnaire in order that we might begin to get to know you and your family to see if a Sammy might be the right dog for you. Shipping from Toronto (Pearson Int'l - Ontario, Canada):
Domestic:
- Cage/Cargo as charged by airline / actual cost - and must be prepaid. Quotes obtained for your destination upon request.
- $75.00 Toronto Int'l Airport Delivery charge
USA:
- US regulations now require that all animal cargo imports are shipped by a broker service. This means that we can no longer ship to US destinations without using this service which will substantially add to the shipping expense. Some US buyers fly into Toronto Pearson Int'l airport to meet us there and return same day with their puppy as excess baggage. We are located 4 hours from Buffalo, NY and Syracuse, NY airports and have also had buyers fly into these cities, rent a car and come get their puppy that way. Sometimes depending on our scxhedule and your location, we can offer a partial delivery service - meeting you part way for the cost of our mileage. Please inquire if this interests you. We will work with you to assist in any way we reasonably can to help get a Vanderbilt puppy into the USA
- Cage/Cargo as charged by airline / actual cost - and must be prepaid. Quotes obtained for your destination upon request.
- $75.00 Toronto Int'l Airport Delivery charge
- $75.00 International Health Certificate.
International:
- $75.00 International Health Certificate - all Int'l shipments require this. Not required at this time for domestic shipping within Canada.
- $50.00 Government Veterinary Certificate Endorsement - required on certain foreign shipments. North America exempt.
- Miscellaneous special export requirements and airport delivery charged at actual cost.
- For the more complicated exports we use a professional Pet Travel Agency located right in Toronto. Talk to us about your location.
Embargos:
Please note that most "domestic" airlines place embargos on the transport of live cargo during peak holiday travel times, as well as during the hot summer months. Animals ARE often accepted as excess baggage flying with a passenger during these times, so it might be possible to fly to Toronto to pick up your puppy. Please check with your preferred airlines. International (non US/Canada destination) exportation generally carries on without embargo or other interruption year round.
Delivery:
Delivery (or partial transportation via a mid-way meeting point) of your puppy to a North American location is sometimes available for the cost of our mileage depending on timing and our availability. Please inquire with us if a delivery option interests you.

Why people breed dogs ...
There are many reasons why people breed dogs - the most noble of course being for the betterment and advancement of the breed. At Vanderbilt we don't breed dogs so we can buy new jewelery or take a carribean vacation - ALL incoming funds go right back into the breeding program, and even then a large percentage of our salaries are sacrificed in this passionate pursuit of canine excellence. That is not to imply we are martyrs - we LOVE what we do, and wake up excited every morning knowing we have found our "calling". Alas breeding dogs the "right" way generally puts people in the poor house so the real jobs are necessary. Many people keep costs low by cutting corners on health screening, quality-assurance events (dog shows, etc), and most commonly - acquisition of the best bloodlines. One purebred puppy can differ vastly from another in background, raising/socialization and overall quality, yet both be of the same breed and come 'with papers'. It is up to the prospective purchaser of a purebred puppy to sift and sort through breeders until they find the one right for them and that they feel comfortable buying a dog from. We are just as picky about our buyers.

Proudly "showin off"!

... You want the best!
At Vanderbilt we actively pursue the best bloodlines worldwide on an ongoing basis to produce our vision of the best Samoyed in overall look, character, and health. No expense is spared in accessing the top gene pools and our dogs don't sit in the backyard waiting to come in season to be bred to meet a pet market demand that simply lines our wallets with profit. We proudly show our dogs at both all breed and Samoyed Specialty shows throughout Canada and the United States to advance and promote the breed. And we don't just breed for "show winners". Instead we are looking to breed dogs that are the best in temperament and health as well as having "movie star" looks! Our litters are long planned unique combinations of the best genes we can find, emphasizing hybrid vigour + temperament, and actively sought by top Samoyed breeders worldwide to augment their own breeding programs as well as also being sought by discerning pet buyers around the globe. When all is said and done the condition of the beloved "pet" IS the condition of the breed. The pet owner is the ultimate judge of our success as breeders. We breed primarily to produce both the best today AND to lay the best possible foundation for the future of the breed. But only a few puppies a year will be retained to represent the next generation - for the rest of those well-bred babies we want the best owners. They deserve nothing less!
When quality matters.
