Exerpt from Judi's next Standard Insight article that will appear in the Fall 2004 issue of the Samoyed Quarterly, Cynthia Kerstiens Editor...

Standard Insight - COATS

"... CKC states “Length of coat is unimportant when compared to type of coat and texture.”  Now THERE'S a statement bound to unleash a thousand breeders churning out every conceivable double coat length/style from a Shiba to a Keeshond and feeling justified about it.  Whether their dog's coats are of a superior texture or not will be a matter for their peers and hallowed judges to decide - but at the end of the day will it really matter if they don't “look” like Samoyeds?  If length of coat is unimportant, how will we EVER draft that silhouette in our minds eye?  And if length is unimportant compared to “type” of coat, are we not back to the proverbial controversy of asking - `is not coat length part of its type?'. ..."
