  The beautiful import "Astro" has arrived!! A vivacious, precocious, funloving and oooh-so-handsome boy, ASTRO was imported from Italy by Vanderbilt in late 2000. Astro brings vastly different blood to Vanderbilt, but represents our commitment to glorious type, and exceptional movement, which we believe can co-exist in the same dog. From a healthy and winning family, we look forward to introducing Astro's genes to North America.
Astro's arrival in Canada came about after after Judi had attended the First World Samoyed Meeting in Milan, Italy in June of 2000. This auspicious event was being held simultaneously with the WORLD SHOW. There, Judi was to see and be inspired by a dog of incredible type, showmanship, and scintillating sidegait - "Albert di Casa Kaly". Albert went on to win World Champion that day, but his win was irrelevant to the impression he made upon Judi. We are very grateful to Astro's breeder Giancarlo Mazzuccato for sending us an exemplary son of Albert's.
 Astro brings with him a pedigree (see below) strongly linebred on the best of English Fairvilla, Karazoe, Roybridge, as well as the Danish Kaissa, and Explorer lines. He has a head that stops traffic, superb eye and pigment, extraordinary harsh coat, small thick ears, 55% leg length, good bone, and ... a simply FABULOUS temperament. Astro has a very strong toy/food drive which makes him very easy to show, yet he is a non-quarellsome member of our tightly knit dog-pack, and doesn't mind 'sharing' his toys. He is a suberbly well behaved, yet energetic presence in our home.
We are very excited about our new baby, and look forward to showing him and combining his genes with those of the Vanderbilt girls in the future. Keep watching this site for updated pictures of Astro as he matures.
